Variable Speed Technology

Rigorously tortured and tested for long-lasting durability, you can be sure a Variable Speed air conditioning system will hold up to anything without holding up your bank account.    What is variable speed technology and why is it important?  Below is a brief description of variable speed technology, along with the other forms of air conditioning stages of cooling which make up our air conditioning systems.


Single Stage Equipment – Most homes in the United States utilize single stage air conditioning equipment technology.  In very basic terms, this equipment starts and stops regularly to cool and condition the air in your home.  It has one stage - full speed.  So, if your system is sized properly with modern equipment, it operates to meet the temperature set on your thermostat and can provide good results with reaching proper temperatures and lower humidity levels, while providing decent energy consumption costs.  *However, we often see that conventional systems tend to leave gaps in comfort in-between cycles which is the most likely cause if you are feeling warm or cold at times during a typical day in your home.  As well, improperly sized systems use more electricity and may work less to control the humidity, often resulting in greater levels of discomfort and mold or biological growths within the system. 


Variable Speed Technology - *Staging refers to an air conditioner's or heat pump's ability to run at less than its maximum capacity in order to increase comfort levels and boost efficiency.  For example, two-stage systems offer better comfort and higher efficiency than single-stage systems, while variable speed systems may provide up to between 700 and 750 stages, offering maximum comfort with the highest efficiency.


What does "Stages of Comfort" really Mean? - Sometimes you just feel "too hot" or "too cold" between cycles of your system. Having 700/750 stages nearly eliminates temperature fluctuations. Your system guides along as if on cruise control, barely sipping electricity for much of the day.  Benefits of variable speed air conditioning systems include, but are not limited to:
